High-tech from outer space
Travelling nutcracker Wilhelm has visited over 40 countries around the world and is currently in space. He is sending space high-tech from the International Space Station ISS to the Erzgebirge. The heat from a conventional incense candle triggers the opening of the rocket’s dome and an image of the travelling nutcracker peeks out. This is made possible by a shape-memory alloy that controls the solar sails on the ISS. In the Ore Mountains, the high-tech material is revolutionising traditional woodcraft.
